This awesome full color Giclee print is entitled ''TIGRIS II'', and comes from the digital Master himself, Guillaume Azoulay. Measures 21 X 24 inches including the border, and is ready to frame. This fine limited edition print is numbered and pencil-signed by the artist, and comes to you with a Certificate of Authenticity. Print will come rolled in a tube.
The brilliance of Azoulay's art centers on his ability to convey the purity of line to create strong illusions of fluid motion and life. Azoulay, a self taught artist, was born in Casablanca, Morocco in 1949. His parents settled in Paris when he was ten and by the age of thirteen he was sketching and selling his drawings on the streets and planning his career as an artist. When he was fourteen he left home and hitchhiked across Europe and the Middle East. His desire to see and be part of the life, history and beauty of the world took him from Copenhagen to Rome, from Lisbon to Jerusalem. He made the world his university, and people were his main subject with their joys and pains and ways of life. He became fluent in five languages. His need to move on took him to London in 1970, and from there to Monte Carlo, Portugal and finally back to Paris. In March of 1976, he arrived in California where he presently resides in beautiful Bell Canyon, amongst horses and riders. This is a familiar subject to those who know his many works. He is married to Charmaine Seal, a noted ballerina, yet another of Azoulay's favorite subjects. They have three children, including a daughter who is the subject of an etching that is part of the collection of the Bibliotheque National Du Louve in Paris.
What is a Giclee? A giclee (zhee-CLAY) is an individually produced, high-resolution reproduction done on a special large format printer. Giclees are produced directly from a digital file from scans of existing artwork. Since many artists now produce only digital art, there is no 'original' that can be hung on a wall. Giclees solve that problem, while creating a whole new vibrant medium for art. Giclees can be printed on any number of media, from canvas to watercolor paper to transparent acetates. Giclees are superior to traditional lithography in several ways. The colors are brighter, last longer, and are so high-resolution that they are virtually continuous tone, rather than tiny dots. The range, or 'gamut' of color for giclees is far beyond that of lithography. Lithography uses tiny dots of four colors--cyan, magenta, yellow and black--to fool the eye into seeing various hues and shades. Giclees use inkjet technology, but far more sophisticated than your desktop printer, with fade-proof inks, and a wider color range. They are priced midway between original art and regular limited edition lithographs. Limited edition litho prints are usually produced in editions of 500-1000 or more, but giclees rarely exceed 50-100 reproductions. Giclees were originally developed as a proofing system for lithograph printing presses, but they have evolved into the new darlings of the art world, coveted by collectors. |
